This website hosts many examples of poetry from the jahiliyyah period to the present in an attempt to create a comprehensive diwan of Arabic poetry. Some poems have an audio component. Users can browse poetry by time period, by audio file, by author's name, or by custom search. The website is also in English and there are many poems that have been translated into English, although some poems that are on the website in English are not on the website in Arabic and vice versa. Users can submit poetry to the website via a submission system.

Al Wzzan is a website aimed at analyzing Arabic poetry. Users can type any verse into the search field, and the website will identify it's meter, or "bahar." Arabic poetry traditionally falls within one of fifteen different meters. The site also provides sample stanzas of poetry to demonstrate how the programs works.

This website shows images and video of the Arabic letters. It has two sections, one with the Arabic letters in their independent, unconnected forms, and a second showing the letters in all of their various connected forms. Both sections offer videos that show a calligrapher writing out each form of each letter. Videos of the connected letters include words that demonstrate the initial, medial, and final positions of each letter.

'Arabic Language and Its Standing among the Languages' is a study made by Dr. Farhan Salim. In this article, Dr. Salim discusses the importance of Arabic. The sections in this article are: Arabic language characteristics; the effect of the Arabic language on other languages; the challenges facing Arabic; and how to face the current challenges.

The collection of Arabic papyrus, parchment, and paper at the J. Willard Marriott Library is the largest in the U.S. It contains several parchment pieces, 770 Arabic papyrus documents, and over 1,300 Arabic paper documents. The collection was compiled by Professor Atiya and his wife who purchased the collection over several years, largely from dealers in Egypt, Beirut, and London. Most of the collection originated in Egypt and the vast majority of the material is from 700 AD to the start of Ottoman rule. The collection is not yet cataloged.

To access the stories, the user chooses an author and then a text from among the titles that the author has provided for the site.

This website is for those who would like to explore the Qur'an in a variety of languages. Users can view the Qur'an by chapter or by section (divided into 5 sections as well as into 30). The exegesis for the reasons of the Qur'an's revelation (Asbaab an-Nazuul) is included as are seven different tafasir, or exegeses. Translations of the Qur'an into 66 different languages are also found on the website; some languages have more than one translation available. Also included are Arabic definitions of the words of the Qur'an.

The Indian Ocean Basin is becoming an important topic in middle and high school world history and geography courses, but one for which there are few instructional resources. This web-based resource helps teachers incorporate the Indian Ocean into world history studies by illustrating a variety of interactions that took place in the Indian Ocean during each era. The material is assembled into an integrated and user-friendly teaching tool for students in upper elementary, middle and high school. It offers students the chance to investigate primary sources that illustrate historical interactions, helping them to become more adept at the analytical historical thinking skills that are required by virtually all state history standards today.

A fusion of linguistic, religious, and ethnic groups with rich diverse roots and intersecting histories make up South Africa. However, the literature on most of the smaller groups tends to be thin and uneven, and often tends to relegate them to the margins of the country's major narratives. This innovative study introduces readers to a fascinating world of linguistic, religious, and cultural politics in the South African port city of Durban, from around 1950, the world of the Arabic Study Circle. This Association was led by a group of largely middle class Indian Muslim Gujurati-speaking men who were passionate about breaking out of the narrow confines of their origins and connecting to a larger changing world of learning rooted in Arabic and an Islamic modernity. They were gentlemen who believed in the transformative powers of reading and conversation. They exemplify the broader process common among educated, but disadvantaged, people in apartheid South Africa, and across the decolonised world in search for meaning community and authenticity.

Nizar Qabbani is a famous Syrian contemporary poet. This website is dedicated to Nizar's literature. In the poetry and poems section, there are 510 poems about love, feminism, religion, and Arab nationalism. Many singers sang the poems of Nizar; this site includes twenty of these songs. Four works of prose by Nizar are included on the website, in addition to some pictures of Nizar and what people said about him. The website is entirely in Arabic.

Story and Tale is a web site that contains around two hundred fifty short stories. The stories are divided into seven categories: old stories, love stories, comical stories, Islamic stories, social stories, purposeful/moral stories, and intellectual stories. Most of the stories are suitable for children and adolescents.

The mission of Understanding Science is to provide a fun, accessible, and free resource that accurately communicates what science is and how it really works. The process of science is exciting, but standard explanations often miss its dynamic nature. Science affects us all everyday, but people often feel cut off from science. Science is an intensely human endeavor, but many portrayals gloss over the passion, curiosity, and even rivalries and pitfalls that characterize all human ventures. Understanding Science gives users an inside look at the general principles, methods, and motivations that underlie all of science. This project has at its heart a re-engagement with science that begins with teacher preparation and ends with broader public understanding. Its immediate goals are to (1) improve teacher understanding of the nature of the scientific enterprise, (2) provide resources and strategies that encourage and enable K-16 teachers to reinforce the nature of science throughout their science teaching, and (3) provide a clear and informative reference for students and the general public that accurately portrays the scientific endeavor. The Understanding Science site was produced by the UC Museum of Paleontology of the University of California at Berkeley, in collaboration with a diverse group of scientists and teachers, and was funded by the National Science Foundation1. Understanding Science was informed and initially inspired by our work on the Understanding Evolution project, which highlighted the fact that many misconceptions regarding evolution spring from misunderstandings of the nature of science. Furthermore, research indicates that students and teachers at all grade levels have inadequate understandings of the nature and process of science, which may be traced to classrooms in which science is taught as a simple, linear, and non-generative process. Wictionary is a free dictionary that gives definitions in 170 different languages. The dictionary only gives definitions within the language, not from language to language. Intended as a lexical companion to the encyclopedia project Wikipedia, Wictionary includes etymologies, pronunciations, quotations, synonyms, and antonyms where appropriate. Users can add definitions by creating an account. Certain words for Arabic also include masdars. An audio component is included for certain languages, Arabic not among them.

FreeReading is an open source instructional program that helps educators teach early literacy. Because it is open source, it represents the collective wisdom of a wide community of teachers and researchers. FreeReading contains Writing Activities, a page of activities to address important writing skills and strategies.
